12 Days of Christmas - Day 9 - Special Guests!

Image
Day 9! Doing something a little different today. I interviewed two aspiring authors who are currently co-writing a novel. Keep reading… there are some fun questions ahead… AND one of my favorite fictional characters came up in this Q&A! *laughs* Welcome Amanda and Jessica! Tell us about what made you start writing. Amanda: It's something we have wanted to do for a really long time and when Jessica approached me about this amazing idea she had and we started brainstorming- it immediately took on a life of its own. So it was something we both knew we had to attempt. As an aspiring author, what are some of the obstacles you have run into so far? Amanda: Being that we are co-writing a series together, we have run into some scheduling conflicts and having to make sure that we are on the same page with the characters and plot development. But we see eye-to-eye on most of it. Also, the series we are writing involves a lot of mythology and the research can be pre

Okay... so I skipped a few days! I was doing so good too! *laughs* Guess I should probably share some Nephilim (Academy of the Fallen) excerpts this week to make up for it. *winks* I'm super excited about today's meet the blogger aka book pimp , and here are the top two reasons: she lives in Va Beach AND she LOVES pretty shoes as much as I do. Welcome Louise from Between the Covers! Tell us about your blog and how you got started. Between the Covers was started in 2010 as the brain child of many conversations between myself and one of my besties. The fact that I was heavily medicated from spinal surgery might have had something to do with it, too. *laughs* Anyway, we are both major book junkies and book pushers, so we decided to put our super powers to good use and start a book blog. BtC is the end result. What are some of your favorite things about running a book blog? Interaction with authors and other bloggers. Constant book talk. Having a forum where my refusal t

Today I have Mandy from TWIMOM101 Book Blog! Hope you enjoy the Q&A. Make sure to check out her blog for awesome book releases, trailers, and much more! Tell us about your blog and how you got started. Mandy: Well once I came over to twitter and facebook I started following people who loved Twilight but also loved books. I had started a blog to feature my etsy items, but soon ended up changing it all over to book related posts. I wasn't doing reviews, just book updates, book to movie news, etc...Then one day Lindsay from Team Twilight asked me to do a review. And I thought it turned out pretty well so I started accepting books for reviews on my blog. What are some of your favorite things about running a book blog? Mandy: Oh gosh that would be all the great authors I have met. Once I started doing reviews I started reading some awesome books by some self-publish authors and they are just so humble, sweet and honored to have your read their work. And the best thing is they

12 Days of Christmas - Day 4 - Top 10 Ways to Get Your Writing Going!

1. Develop your characters. The best you know them, the easier it becomes to write how they will react to certain situations. That is the number 1 reason why I enjoy character interviews so much. It helps me getting to know them! Just do a Q&A between you and your character and you will see what happens. 2. Write a general outline and then, don't be afraid of not following it. *Laughs* There are times when the story will take you in a new direction, just go with it. 3. No editing until the first draft is done. I could write an entire top 10 reasons why you should not edit while working on the first draft, but for now, let's just say that it will consume all of your time and it will interrupt of flow of ideas. Read more here!

12 Days of Christmas - Day 3 - The Broken Destiny by Carlyle Labuschagne

Hi Everyone! I had the pleasure of interviewing one of the characters from The Broken Destiny by Carlyle Labuschagne. This is an upcoming series that I added to my TBR list months ago and hope you will add to yours as well! Hi Ava. Thanks for agreeing to do this interview for my blog. I understand that you have a lot going on, so please stop me if the questions get too personal. Hi Daniele, I thank you for agreeing on this interview. My creator has admired your work for a while now. *bows head* Can you tell us a little about you… How old you are and what a ‘normal’ day with you would be like? I am going on 18 now . I am a difficult girl. I m always arguing with someone. * laughs* Before the change , before the Zulu threat, a normal day would be going to class, studying, hockey practice and perhaps finding some rule to break *laughs* That has all changed now. Now I dont have time for school , or friends, thing has spiraled completly out of control. So my life is always in

My 2011 favorites! (...not including my own books. hehe) Leave a comment with your favorites and make sure to include your email address. :D Warning: The Hunger Games trilogy will probably take over most of the answers. My favorite 2011 reads! YA The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins. LOVED all 3 books! *** Non-YA Books I will be honest… I don’t read a lot of books that are not YA, so no point in breaking this down into more categories. My favorite non-YA books were the Georgina Kincaid series by Richelle Mead. *** Favorite female character Katniss Evergreen from the Hunger Games. Why? She is badass. Enough said! *** Favorite male character That is a tie between Peeta from the Hunger Games and Aric from Starcrossed by Trace Lee Campbell. They are both adorable. *** Character who made me mad... Another tie! Jace from MI and Shane from Morganville Vamps. Ugh. I wanted to smack them both. *** Cover Love Passion by Lauren Kate **
