12 Days of Christmas - Days 6...7... 8 - Meet the Blogger

Okay... so I skipped a few days! I was doing so good too! *laughs* Guess I should probably share some Nephilim (Academy of the Fallen) excerpts this week to make up for it. *winks*

I'm super excited about today's meet the blogger aka book pimp, and here are the top two reasons: she lives in Va Beach AND she LOVES pretty shoes as much as I do.

Welcome Louise from Between the Covers!

Tell us about your blog and how you got started.

Between the Covers was started in 2010 as the brain child of many conversations between myself and one of my besties. The fact that I was heavily medicated from spinal surgery might have had something to do with it, too. *laughs* Anyway, we are both major book junkies and book pushers, so we decided to put our super powers to good use and start a book blog. BtC is the end result.

What are some of your favorite things about running a book blog?

Interaction with authors and other bloggers. Constant book talk. Having a forum where my refusal to acknowledge that my favorite characters are fictional is accepted. *grins*

...but they are real! *laughs*

What is your favorite genre and why?

Paranormal. I love the “what ifs” that are available in that genre, and have always been fascinated by the things that go bump in the dark... vamps, weres, ghosts... you name it, I want to know about it.

What are your last/current/future reads?

Last: Lover Eternal

Current: Lover Awakened

Future: Lover Revealed

What are your top 3 favorite books? … and you are welcome… I thought it would be unfair to ask you to pick just one. *winks *

*drafts divorce papers* LMAO It is so wrong to make me pick books. They are like much loved friends! *tries not to cry* Okay... here goes. Not necessarily in order:

1. Lover Awakened by J.R. Ward

2. Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles

3. Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

So, how many times have we drafted divorce papers? *laughs* I will call for irreconcilable differences due to our weather disagreements. I still say that snow is awesome!

Anyway... *disregards yet another divorce threat* If you could interview one author that you haven’t already, who would it be?

*gah* I struggled with this question even more than I did with the fave books one. My dream interview would be with J.K. Rowling, but... In the end I managed to put my personal fangirl desire to ask MY questions aside, and decided that Jeaniene Frost is an author I would love to be able to interview. She has multiple series, but always has interesting, well developed characters. Her stories are interesting, the writing quick and fun. Overall, she is one of my favorite authors for many reasons and I’d enjoy the chance to interview her.

Now, my favorite question: If you could go on a date with a book character, who would that character be and why? (Make sure to tell us what book the character belongs to.)

Oh, wow... there are so many good choices! Anyone who has read BDB knows that any of the brothers would do anything for their females, so they would be a dream date. Bones (Night Huntress series) would make the date exciting. Adam (Southern Vampire Mysteries) would surprise me. *sees a vamp theme in my answers...* But, my top pick would actually be Roarke from J.D. Robb’s In Death series. *offers my version of Roarke for your enjoyment*

Thanks for the visual! I'm sure readers will appreciate it... A LOT!

What would be the perfect date with the character above?

A quiet dinner. Of course, being Roarke a “quiet dinner” would involve a quick flight to Paris or Italy or some other wonderful place to have dinner in a restaurant we’d have all to ourselves, because he would own it and would have closed it down for the evening so we could have privacy. *laughs*

Is there a character that annoys or who you just want to smack every once in a while? *laughs *

I think most ongoing characters come with some level of “Dude, open your eyes!” included. But by far the most annoying character I have read about in a long time is Ian from the Night Huntress series. He is so arrogant! *looks around for a shoe to throw at him*

Not the cute shoes!!!!

If you were a book character in a paranormal novel, what kind of supernatural would you be and what kind of power would you have?

Well, since I can’t be Rogue... I would want to be a telepath. Preferably one with the ability to be invisible, too. Those two together would *hopefully* cut down on the amount of trouble I’d get into with superpowers. #NotLikely

In your opinion what is the best movie adaptation of a book that you've read?

Harry Potter. All except the third movie. Someone should have a shoe thrown at them for the third movie.

*hides* I should probably read them and watch all movies after the second one. *Is it safe to come out? I promise I will read them!*

Is there a book you’d like to see as a movie and do you have a dream-cast for it?

There are several I’d love to see as a movie. My all time favorite series is coming to film, soon... the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich. I’d love to see the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward, the Night Huntress by Jeaniene Frost, the Wolves of Mercy Falls by Maggie Stiefvater, and am hopeful.. cautiously optimistic about the Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare and The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.

MI is not a good topic to bring up at the moment... I can't believe it got pushed back because they are re-writing the script. UGH! I can't wait for the Hunger Games though! *grins*

Paper or e-book?

As much as I love paper books, e-books are easier for me since my surgery. *has sads*

Standalone or Series?

Series. I love, love, LOVE character development, and you can only do so much in one book.

Cliffhangers: yes or no?

Yes, but you better give me satisfaction afterward! *winks... and cracks knuckles*

Is there a book you wish you had written?

Harry Potter. Not for the money, though I could buy a bijillion cute shoes with that much money. Just because of how much there is to it, all of the complexities of the world Rowling developed. It is a truly impressive series.

*hides again...not sure if should come out...*
